Tuition: $195

Course Schedule: Monday, July 27, 2026, through Friday, August 21, 2026

Registration: You may enroll by paying the tuition to AP® Homeschoolers. Once the tuition is paid, please fill out my Student Information Form as soon as you can. I’ll use this information to send your getting‑started instructions a few days before class begins.

Supplies/Calculator: You won’t need to buy any supplies for the course. My prep course includes the College Board’s free online Desmos calculator, but if you prefer to use your own scientific or graphing calculator, that's fine too.

Course Description: My AP Chemistry Prep course is not required for success in my AP Chemistry course. It can be helpful for students who want a head start on the first four units, greater confidence, or a smoother transition into AP Chemistry. Because AP Chemistry is the equivalent of a first‑year college chemistry course, the prep course is also a valuable resource for college students who want to strengthen their foundation before taking college chemistry. This prep course is fully asynchronous with all materials available from day one, so students can work around travel, jobs, and other commitments. The course covers the AP Chemistry material in a simplified, clear, and easy‑to‑follow format, making complex concepts easier to grasp. The workload is light and flexible so students can participate comfortably alongside their summer activities.

Course Delivery: You will watch a series of classroom‑style video lectures with timelines allowing you to rewatch challenging segments or move quickly through material you already understand. Each lesson includes interactive practice with instant feedback, a downloadable unit summary to reinforce understanding, and 3–4 lab demonstrations that bring the topic to life. The learning management platform WebAssign includes a progress tracker that updates daily so you can see how you’re doing as you move through the exercises.

Transcript Option: Because WebAssign tracks student work and progress throughout the course, families may request a grade at the end of the summer. If a family chooses this option, the course will be listed as an additional science course on the student’s transcript. If a family does not request a grade, the course will not appear on the transcript. This allows each family to decide what works best for their student and how they prefer to record the course.

Student Support: Students receive personalized help through my Discussion Board. I monitor it throughout the day, five days a week, and use diagrams, annotations, images, videos, and links to give clear, thorough explanations for chemistry questions. A digital assistant is available around the clock, including evenings and weekends, to give students immediate, detailed explanations for WebAssign practice exercises and topic‑summary questions.

Teacher Qualifications: I am a Michigan‑certified chemistry teacher with more than 35 years of classroom experience teaching Honors and AP® Chemistry in one of the top‑ranked public school systems in the country, and 18 years teaching AP Chemistry with Pennsylvania Homeschoolers. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science Education degree from Wayne State University. Over the course of my career, I have taught thousands of students and mentored new chemistry teachers.

My work extends beyond the classroom. I have collaborated with the National Science Foundation, participated in multiple NSF teacher programs, and was sponsored by the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at Princeton University, where I had the opportunity to lecture and work alongside leading scientists and educators. I have led national workshops for chemistry teachers, developed computer software for chemistry education, and hosted an international Internet conference (CHYMNET) for chemistry educators.

I have written assessment questions for the Michigan Educational Assessment Test and the ACT® Assessment, reviewed chemistry questions for Cengage’s WebAssign® database, and edited articles for the Journal of Chemical Education. I have completed the College Board Institute Program for teaching AP® Chemistry and remain an active participant in the AP® Chemistry Teachers Community.

I received the Presidential Scholars Teacher Recognition Award, a national honor given to only one hundred teachers each year.

Teaching chemistry is my lifelong passion. I work hard to make my lessons clear, engaging, and enjoyable, and I am committed to helping students succeed not only on the AP® Chemistry Exam, but also to have a competitive edge in college chemistry. My students have gone on to prestigious colleges and universities around the world, including all the U.S. Military Academies, MIT, Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, Rutgers, Yale, Cornell, Oxford University, the National University of Singapore, and many top U.S. state universities.

While taking my prep course, you’ll have a supportive teacher who guides you through the early AP Chemistry topics and helps you begin the year with confidence.
